It is up to the writers. I do know there have been several soap characters who were completely evil and turned over a new leaf. One of these characters happen to be another one of WJB evil villains who everyone thought was taken completely to the point of no return. Michael Baldwin. In just 2 short years he sexually harassed a woman. He paid a woman drug a man and getting compromising pictures. He sexually harassed Cricket and was censored by the courts and had his license to practice law revoked. He murdered the woman he paid to drug a man and take those pictures. He was sent to prison for kidnapping and attempted murder. He got out and then attempted to rape a woman and shot the man who tried to rescue her... He spent another 4 years in prison thinking about his life. Sounds like the stuff of Shelia, Then...

He got out of prison. Gave a heartfelt apology to the woman he tried to rape and make amends to the man he tried to murder. Within time, the woman he tried to rape helped him get his license restored. They became law partners. He asked her to marry him and they were engaged for a while. He made amends to the man he tried to kill and they became friends.

Now the man is married to Lauren Fenmore and they have a wonderful life together. He is a well beloved and respected citizen of GC. A great friend to the woman he tried to rape and her ex husband.

Michael is like Hester Prynne. His scarlet letter R has changed from Rapist to Redeemed. He is also now a fan favorite. They can do the same with Shelia.

I love Michael.
And he is still extremely shady.
